Governor candidate for All Progressive Congress Senator Aisha Jumai Alhassan has called for a complete abrogation of zoning in Nigeria political system to ensure that the country make adequate progress.
According to her “I don’t know when the issue of zoning became part of our political system, as far as I am concerned, this is the products of the military, it is jaundiced, and so we must do away with it now, else it will end up destroying our political system which we all fought to achieved” Senator Aisha said.

Aisha who is eyeing the Taraba Government House come next month said she is the race just because of her desire to uplift Taraba state, which she said “had little to show for its existence for these zooning things has destroyed taraba state. Bad and unkind leaders has remained the products of zooning”. “Democracy is the government of the people, let allow the people to choose their candidate”. She went ahead to talk about what it meant to be a leader and her readiness to sacrifice all for the people of Taraba state; “Leadership is sacrifice, and I am willing and determined to sacrifice anything to contribute in whatever way God permits for the development of my state and that is why I am offering myself to do this job of taking my people to the land of hope and treasure” power comes from God but the people remain the machinery through which God chose who rules his peoples”. The senator who is flying the ticket of APC asks Taraban to shine their eye and vote for credible leader who would come and liberate them from the mire of poverty and joblessness. She also challenges those who are in government to always feel the pulse of the people who elected them. “ what Taraba state needs is economic miracle and if you ask me, the present administration does not seem to be doing much in that direction, what I believe is that the man or woman who is capable to turn  Taraba state around should be the one to occupy the seat of power”

Former President Jonathan said during his reception in Bayelsa yesterday that before he became deputy governor of the state, he had no interest in politics. Narrating how he dabbled into politics, Jonathan said, “It all started with me and Chief Diepreye Alamieyeseigha. I knew Alamieyeseigha when he wanted to contest the governorship of Bayelsa State under the defunct United Nigeria Congress Party. That was the first time I knew Alamieyeseigha. We formed groups in every local governments – two persons to sign petition to enable Alamieyeseigha to contest. But a late Chief Judge asked me and one person from Ogbia to sign the petition.
