  Tribunal Nullified AKWA-Ibom governorship election, orders re-run election

The Akwa Ibom state governorship tribunal today nullified the April 11 governorship election in 18 out of the 31 Local government areas in the state, citing irregularities in the manner in which the elections were conducted. The tribunal ordered that fresh elections should be conducted in the affected Local government areas while the state governor, should still remain in office pending the outcome of the re-run election.

APC governorship candidate in the state, Umana Umana had dragged the state governor and PDP candidate Udom Emmanuel before the tribunal, challenging his victory at the poll.
