PROSE: THE FACE IN THE SKY

A hot but cloudy afternoon, did not seem like it was going to rain. Uju, a single mother struggled to get her car started with her 8 year old son at the back sit playing with his action figure. Its been almost an hour since her car halted on the on-going side of the third mainland bridge in lagos. Attempts to stop a vehicle proved abotive, every vehicle that passed was on "fast drive". She had knocked the battery, several times, checked the water level of the car, did every womanly thing she could do to get her car started. She twisted the key, left it at a full turn, with her head on the steering, she pumped the accelerator. No luck.
"Come on, Come on, Come on", Uju once again tried, the car made few sound of "coughs" but still could not start.
Junior was enjoying his action figures, drifting them through the air as he made sweet sounds of "Swoosh", it irritated Uju but she controlled her emotions as she gently told Junior to stop "Sweety, do you mind, mummy is trying to get the car started. How about you help mummy out eh? How about you keep an eye for mummy in case help comes okay?". Junior carefully caressed his toy "Okay mummy". He steps on the back sit and continues his play but he made sure he did not make any sound.
Close to one minute, after Uju and junior spoke, Uju had found a way to charge her phone maybe she could call or text amaka, her course mate, to come pick them up, the sound of speeding vehicle echoed in the car.
Suddenly there was a synchronized screeching of tires, absent minded Uju kept on pressing her phone. Chattering of voices could be heard.
BOOM!!. Junior shooks, Uju inquiries "what's that honey", the car begins to vibirate immensely five seconds after the boom, Uju rushed out of her car, she behold the sky in her eyes as a lightening cuts through the sky with another BOOM!!.
"Mummy, what is that" junior says with fear, "stay in the car honey" Uju walks towards the halted cars with people beside it, all were staring up in amaze, the lightening that cut through was still visible. The white lines made a crack sound as it opens, a bright light emerge from the hole, a loud sound filled the air like humming loudly with your mouth closed.
"Cool!!" junior emphasized it. Uju made to the door, Junior placed both hands on the window "Mummy what is that" "nothing honey". She drags Junior out as she made a run for it, she did not look left nor right, she just ran holding junior on her shoulder like a baby. Junior galloping looked up in amazement totally unaware. Water shoots up from every direction, some made its way through from under the bridge as people screamed.
Unlucky for Uju she tripped flinging Junior to the air, as her face reaches the ground in fear that Junior might have landed in a terrible way, his cloth slowly falls to the ground living trails of white

smoke.
Uju looks up the sky, it was blooming with red and white, a face emerges out from the crack. One with clothes made of fire, voice resounding like thunder. COME!!
