WHO ARE THE ACHA PEOPLE?   The question of who are the Acha and what is the meaning of Acha has been a prevalent question amidst the present generation of both kuteb and non-kuteb people of Taraba state. Legends had it that, Acha as a person was the sixth son of kuteb after Likam and was borne to him by Iya Yaka. The name Acha was given after the birth of the son at Andekussa hill. “ACHA-INYING”, meaning, “born out of blood”. This was due to the fact that, the mother suffered from issued of blood during conception and the child in the womb nearly miscarried. A complete Acha man is fair and muscular. An average Acha man is a born poet and a lover of art and culture-the quality that earn them firmed and popularity among the kuteb of ancient. A hot but cloudy afternoon, did not seem like it was going to rain. Uju, a single mother struggled to get her car started with her 8 year old son at the back sit playing with his action figure. Its been almost an hour since her car halted on the on-going side of the third mainland bridge in lagos. Attempts to stop a vehicle proved abotive, every vehicle that passed was on "fast drive". She had knocked the battery, several times, checked the water level of the car, did every womanly thing she could do to get her car started. A Nigerian journalist with DW Radio Service, Germany, Faruk Muhammad Yabo shared the sad story on Facebook: "The story of this under-aged Maimuna an orphan of Birnin ruwa village in sokoto who was raped, impregnated and abandoned by one Alhaji Giwa of the same village as accused, is very touchy.  Maimuna who is 8 month pregnant, has nobody to cater for her pregnancy in this very young age. She is now helpless her father died since, and the person accused of impregnating her denied before the upper sheri'a court in sokoto, but Maimuna insisted that Alhaji Giwa as accused, was the only one who impregnated her.   The two witnesses from the same village have attested before the court that Alhaji Giwa even told them that he will take Maimuna to a specialist for abortion, but later changed his mind.
